Quick update:

I am going to use a leadshine PLC to handle my ethercat atc. And just interface with the centroid PLC using IO logic.
Additionally the pcb design for the centroid hickory breakout is done and it has been ordered and produced. Should be ...

Re: Renishaw TS27R Tool Setter
Is it possible to connect without the interface unit? I do not have one. If i need one, is there one that is better than the others?
Renishaw says you are not allowed to use it without the interface board. The output of it is 5V so you need to configure the centroid input so it can understand ...

Update:
I re-made this video with a tighter edit — less boring, more to the point. Should be much easier to follow now:

This covers the custom PCB that finally solved the wiring mess and made the retrofit a lot cleaner. Hopefully this version is more enjoyable to ...

New update!
I've been busy with other house projects, so the CNC retrofit has been on hold quite a bit. Yesterday, I managed to get a few more hours in and made some solid progress.

Re: 4th axis simutanious post processor
I could be wrong, but In the new(er) fusion , the orientation of the axis is all done by the machine definition and not hard coded in the post processor. Uwe/I posted an updated community one here somewhere which has been converted to the "new" standard.

Preload is the big thing here. You want repeatability in this sense, not accuracy. he accuracy you can solve with scales etc.

Re: Does C7 Ballscrew + Linear Scales = "C3" Ballscrew?
The guy worked at Kern :D . When it comes to the screw itself, it's either C7 or C5. Still, they're high-quality screws. The C rating mainly refers to the non-linearity error, which can be mapped and calibrated for accuracy. Of course, you still need proper preload in your screw.
