Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

Made some more progress today, got the Z axis wiring cleaned up and the motor mounted. A few new pictures in the link. Gary

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

Progress is a little slow right now. Just a few new pictures in the album, but nothing earth shattering.

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

Hi Lavrgs, the block is 18 pin and it could be some less since since there are a few duplicate +24V & 0V wires, but I decided to keep them separate here and combine them on the terminal block in the cabinet. The only items I reconnected were the X+ limit, x- limit, turret sensor lock sensor, tur...

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

I was able to get the wiring cleaned up on the cross slide and got rid of the AMP taper pin plug while I was at it. The X+ & X- limit, the turret up/index solenoid, the turret stop solenoid, the turret lock sensor and turret encoder all feed through here. Originally the X axis encoder and two mo...

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

Made a little more progress, the X axis Leadshine motor is mounted. The hardest part by far was getting the Leadshine motor cables fished through the flex wire rack that goes to the cross slide. There are already both wires and air lines in there and the Leadshine wires already have the motor plugs ...

Re: Finding a part for Oli-Phase rotary 3 phase converter

I probably should have added that an exact mount of capacitance isn’t required. A good rule of thumb for a quick, but not snap start is 75uf per horsepower. Which would be 1125uf or 112.5uf each since it appears you have 10 start capacitors. Some one mentioned they found capacitors with a similar nu...

Re: Finding a part for Oli-Phase rotary 3 phase converter

The black ones are starting capacitors and they’re only used for getting the motor started the generator third phase the silver ones are run capacity and they’re the ones that adjust the voltage. Probably go down to the refrigeration or air-conditioning parts supplier and pick up the start capacitor...

Making some progress and getting ready to start landing wires on the inputs and output relays.

Thanks Gary

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

Hello, I have a Centroid DP-1 probe and searches both here and Google turn up nothing at all. It’s sort of like it doesn’t exist. I was wondering if I change the touch surface if I will be able to use it with the Hickory to set lathe tools?

Thanks Gary

Re: Hardinge CHNC II+ Hickory LeadShine EL7 Retrofit

To save a little space and make it look a little cleaner I am planning to overlap the end of the output relay boards when I mount them. There aren’t any traces close, does anyone have any thoughts or see any issues with that?

Thanks Gary
