Re: X Axis problems Hardinge Lathe
Probably should have checked earlier but the X axis fuse was blown and the replacement blew as soon as I powered the board. I will need to start the process of returning the board. This was bought August 2023 what is the warranty period?

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
It's the one on the board. And I noticed #2 was blinking later. BUT
I checked the X fuse on the board and it was blown. I'm pretty sure I heard the replacement go...poof...yup it blew as soon as I turned on power.
I would think that could be why Z didn't move when the swap happened...

Re: X Axis problems Hardinge Lathe
UPDATE I swapped encoder on X and Z and still have a problem on X, the encoders are both OK. Troubleshooting servo, ballscrews and ways sounds like the next steps

X Axis problems Hardinge Lathe
I am retrofitting a Hardinge CHNC 4 with an ALLIN1DC. Things were going ok until a couple days ago when I started having problems with the X-axis; not sure I can call it oscillation but it will shudder as it tried to move and will error out with a couple different codes 410 & 411, as I recall. A...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
Here is the video of the machine https://photos.app.goo.gl/tTHaAoWbbaSFoaM86 it doesn't last long before I get a fault. You can see when it starts as the chuck wrench dances down the parts chute...9-) UPDATED with PID screen shot and the tuning file UPDATE 2 I have the homing set to Jog. I set part ...

Re: NPT + Threads in Intercon - Workflow
For my last try, I used Fusion to generate the tool path and upon closer inspection the default pitch and depth values were very far off and the containment was wrong, making the tool cut into the shoulder. I'm currently having some X axis problems. When I get going again, I will try first with Inte...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
OK I will put everything back together today. I have a question about encoder alignment, is it critical to reposition it back to where it was? There is a wide range of adjustment. It sits on a plate, which can rotate - I marked it's position. The encoder has a bracket with a slot that also allows so...

Re: NPT + Threads in Intercon - Workflow
As for cutting into your shoulder, where are you setting your Z0 for the threading tool. Many people start threads by single pointing them and finish with a die. I set Z offset at the spindle side. I will try taking a few passes and finishing with a die.. I've got other issues going on that are roa...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
The encoder was tight on the shaft...damn metric threads..9-) The belt may be a little tight but there is some play. I get encoder counts on the screen. Is there a way to see an index pulse? The encoder is a Suntek LHE-714-2000. Now that I've taken it off is there anything else to check...like oil o...
