Re: Video Walkthrough of How I Use the Acorn
Maybe Centroid could find and promote a $200 touch probe. I have a couple of the drewtronic probes and just checked it to my ring gauge to within 0.0005. It's not particularly fragile - i've broken a stylus and dialed it back in. I'd guess they must be a small company because when you call them you...

Re: X Axis problems Hardinge Lathe
I've taken both X and Z motors to be checked out at a local shop that cncsnw has suggested. I expect that I will know next week if there are any issues found. The ALLIN1DC will be sent back for repairs

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
Is it possible to use external drives with an ALLIN1DC? I have a bunch of gecko drives that I could use to test my servo motor... For some reason I think it doesn't like step and direction. I am trying to do some test with a board that can't drive my servo motor.

Re: dxf import
I'm using Rhino, but not very experienced. I do know that Rhino has an export with origin option. This could be what I need to figure out. I am not familiar with Rhino but I expect there is a way to show an X-Y and Hopefully Z axis or plane. That is the origin. in Fusion360 and Creo items are often...

Re: dxf import
What CAD are you using? Some systems allow you to set the origin of the drawing. There are a variety of options for exporting DXF files some work better than others; it will depend on your CAD as to what's available

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
Hi Lavrgs, just curious, does it blow the fuse with every thing unhooked? The short answer is No. I do have the servos disconnected and perhaps the contactor didn't close... Several days ago I did a swap of X and Z and when I did that I got no motion from the X axis terminal, now driving the carria...

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
I did not find any resistance in the wires Red and black were open to ground and when connected together on one end there was about 1 Ohm across red/black

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
Update to the motors; I rechecked the Z axis motor, at the motor, and things seem to be more like you would expect; red to black 1.9 Ohm and for both blk to gnd and red to gnd the numbers are ~2 MOhm. I also looked at the X axis motor, at the motor and the results are similar to what I had earlier 2...
