Ah, okay, thank you for the explanation. This reminds me of that cartoon about "This isn't a cheap hobby, boy!" Yeah...

Re: Changing router bits mid-job without an ATC

I'm curious: what's the purpose of the second tool touch-off?

Re: Changing router bits mid-job without an ATC

Nigelo, ShawnM, and Sword, thank you very much for the input - I'll look into both tool touch-off units and the suggested routines.

Re: Changing router bits mid-job without an ATC

Thanks, I've watched that video many times, but the video shows an ATC setup that doesn't apply to my situation. I'll follow the advice to split the jobs into two. Thanks guys. what is your definition of ATC? there is no ATC in that video. Fair enough, you're correct, as I misspoke - I meant to say...

Changing router bits mid-job without an ATC

Being new to this, I suspect this is an elementary issue, but don't want to risk wasted material: This is the first time that I have to change cutters mid-job on my CNC router. I know about tool offsets and such, but not having ATC, how does that work? I load the first tool, set the offset, start th...

Re: If you were to get a mill and convert it to CNC, what would you get?

Oh I completely agree on how long it takes to do a simple operation. Right now I'm diving into learning the entire workflow from CAD to CAM to feeding the machine. What I'm trying to make would have been done many weeks ago had I just used the manual mill, but I'm in this to learn. CNC is brilliant ...

Re: If you were to get a mill and convert it to CNC, what would you get?

If/when I do a manual mill-to-CNC conversion, I'll retain the knobs and handles so that quick one-off jobs can still be performed. Many conversion kits I see do away with the handle which is a no-go-in my mind, detracting from versatility and flexibility.

Re: Slow Parking speed

I very much appreciate the offers of help, so don't misunderstand me not offering up a report as being difficult. It's that I've already figured it out and have solved the issue, so a report would just make more work for you guys :)

Re: Slow Parking speed

You're not gonna get much help without posting a report. We're all just guessing at the issue until we can see your settings. The issue has already been solved. I only posted again due to being curious why v5.06 displays differently than what Keith's screen shows. Unless you're saying that the repo...
