Re: Question for those running water-cooled spindles

It's Chinese (Jianken) and yeah, I'm running distilled water and "Water Wetter."

Re: Touch Screen Monitors

So now that I've been using the single-point resistive type touchscreen for a while, two observations when comparing it to a capactive-type touch screen: 1. It definitely takes more pressure to activate a button, a good thing for a CNC application. 2. It has the same issue as the capacitive-type tou...

Question for those running water-cooled spindles

I was surprised to be told by the manufacturer that the water is supposed to be removed from the water lines and spindle every day. I had assumed that the spindle water circuits are made of something that's not going to degrade with exposure to distilled water. I even wonder how beneficial the remov...

Re: Giving up on controller-commanded spindle speed

Sunfar E550 VFD and a Jianken 3.2KW 24,000rpm water-cooled spindle.

I didn't mention the VFD because it seems like these Chinese companies come and go so fast, or change their names, that it's near impossible to know much about them.

Re: Giving up on controller-commanded spindle speed

Tried that, and while it helped quite a bit (roughly doubling the spindle rpm!) the speed variation is still there. Tried various capacitor values between 0.001uF all the way up to 0.47uF. For an external input, I'm surprised how sensitive this VFD is. Thanks for the info regarding the cables. I'll ...

Giving up on controller-commanded spindle speed <resolved>

I originally had trouble with a very unstable spindle speed in addition to it sounding slower than it should be (yes, CNC12 is set for 0-10V out). At first this appeared to be caused by using unshielded wiring between the Acorn and VFD. After switching to shielded cable, and using the router for a f...

Re: Changing router bits mid-job without an ATC

Thanks, Keith, so it idles high and goes low when a tool is sensed.

Does that mean if it uses a mechanical switch, it should be normally-open? That seems contrary for reliability reasons.

Re: Changing router bits mid-job without an ATC

I'm looking through the Acorn User Manual and haven't found if I should get a NPN or PNP type touch device (I want one that has a touch surface with some give). For a mechanical switch I'd go with normally-closed, but with solid state sensor it's less clear. An NPN transistor pulls low when activate...

Re: Changing router bits mid-job without an ATC

... How are you setting Z zero now? Please don't say you are using the paper method. :D :? I sent off an email to swissi regarding his app, and will wait until he answers to decide on what type of tool touch unit(s) I should use. Seems like if I go with the two-unit solution, the movable one could ...
