Re: Touch probe
Seems like finding the basics how to probe is impossible. Its frustrating buying such an expensive tool and not being able to use it. There is a section (Chapter 8) in the CNC 12 mill operator's manual that covers the basics of digitizing. Manipulating the data is going to require good software. As...

Re: Serious Issues with existing build
Sounds like your 'step' is only going in one direction. I had this happen to me and I replaced the drive for that axis. Problem was solved.
But it could be that you just have a bad connection there. Could try re-seating the connections first and see if that fixes it.

Re: Touch probe
You need to consider the resolution you'll get from digitizing with a probe. Under the best conditions, the probe tip diameter will limit the precision of your digitization. My KP-3 probe tip diameter is 0.09 inches. This is great for a lot of surfaces. But you won't catch the detail in small groove...

Re: Acorn ClearPath DIY Control for AVID & ShopBot
Sure wish this had been an option for me back in September. I had a build 'done' by a person recommended on the Avid community board. It was a total disaster. I got a half built box after four months of waiting. The spindle he bought failed in his own hands, and he sent me a bunch of used Clearpath ...

Re: CNC12 v5.1 Release Candidate #2 is now available.
#1 Router setup IMHO is: fixed Tool Touch Off for Tool Lengths and using a moveable Touch Plate for setting zeros So how does one do this if you have the DP-3, TT-4 and the usual NO Touch Plate? My 'touch plate' now is a piece of paper. :( Note: In upcoming CNC12 v5.2 we are adding Wizard support f...

Re: Please help with ATC issue after spindle and VFD upgrade
I have the RM40C ATC Turnkey system that has the Durapulse VFD and pneumatics in their box. It connects to the Acorn through a 14-pin connector. It might help to see how I wired it: Attached is a link to the wiring diagram/plan I used to wire the 14 pin connector from Acorn to the DuraPulse spindle ...

Re: Laser/Router Work Flow
This works for rotary and laser now, varying Z-Height so you can laser engrave on a Vectric 3-D model. Jim Neeb over at Avid had a good one that was very instructive for the Acorn. Keith, it might be good to have a place to store various Post Processors rather than have to drag them out of threads. ...

Re: Wierd tool offset issue
Next time you do this, notice the state of the Tool/Tool Height Offset. It is in the middle of the screen, second line from the top. It will appear as either T1 H1 or T1 H-. My guess is that you are setting the wcs Z0 when that line reads T1 H-. You need to have that line read T1 H1 when you zero. T...

Re: Wierd tool offset issue
does your machine home out to a home switch? is the TT permanently mounted (always at same z location)? [/quote] Yes, all axes home to home switches. Yes, the TT has its own return position. Where this gets problematic for me is I have a machine table zero, and a rotary system zero. And I will switc...
