Re: Can't run the job

I guess my question wasn't clear. I did follow the procedures in the manual and did the calibration on .25" steel. I assume the voltage was set in the profile for that size and type of material. My question is, do I have to run the calibration program on each new type of material. For instance,...

Re: Can't run the job

Great! Adjusted the voltage and replaced the shield and that seems to have solved the problem. I have a question on the torch calibration. Is the voltage recorded (I used 1/4" steel for the test) the same for all thicknesses of material or does each thickness have it's own voltage. Thanks for a...

Re: Can't run the job

Something I just noticed.

Looking at the Acorn Simplified I/O PLC Diagnostics screen I see that the Plasma T IN is always green. If I pull the wire off the Ohmic Retaining Cap it goes red. It seems the system is seeing the torch always in touch with the workpiece.

Any ideas why?

Re: Can't run the job

Yes, I believe that is what's happening. As I said, it's a new DYI plasma cutter and I did cut a couple of simple jobs to check it's operation. A 12" circle, some straight lines and squares and they all cut as expected. One thing I failed to mention is that those test cuts were all cut with no ...

Can't run the job

I have a new DYI plasma cutter and I've completed all the set-up procedures and I have cut a simple job but the one I'm referring to here has problems. The job starts, the torch plunges rises and starts to cut a couple of inches and then for some reason the z lowers and trips the mechanical torch he...

Re: Can I change the parameters in the Torch Calibration Program

I would appreciate any help that you could provide. I will add TeamViewer to that PC but I've never used it so I may need some coaching. The machine I have is a DIY 4'x4' plasma with the Y moving across the gantry and the paired X moving the gantry. Some say that is not the standard XY configuration...

Re: Can I change the parameters in the Torch Calibration Program

I’m usually pretty good at these things but I’m not doing so well on this one. I can’t repeat yesterday’s torch config display of 2in. I set the Max rate to 300 in both the Axis Configuration and Material Profile, and I now get a display to cut a line 6in. Should I be seeing a 2in cut or is the 6in ...

Re: Can I change the parameters in the Torch Calibration Program

One question I forgot to ask.

Does the material used for the Torch Calibration have to be .25 or is it ok to just choose the .25 profile?

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Can I change the parameters in the Torch Calibration Program

The good news is that I changed the profile to Steel 45A -.5 from Steel 45A-.0625 because that was the thickness of the material that I was using. After that I got the correct message saying that it will cut 1 2in line in the -Y direction. Which is what I expected. I haven’t run the program yet beca...
