Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

Unless you are seeing something larger than an ohm, the wires are probably fine. Up to an ohm is possible from the contact resistance of the meter probes to the wires.

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question

Relay lights as in on the blue 8 relay board? That is weird! You don't have any outputs defined so nothing should be happening with those. If you meant the 4 LEDs on the Acorn near the open collector output headers, those indicate that the enable signals are on. At this point, I do not know what cou...

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question

Do the X or Y move from Acorn control? If so, then make sure the Z enable is set the same way as the X and Y. Regardless, I'd focus on the motors without brakes first.

Are those pictures you mentioned in the google photos album? I don't see them there.

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question

Could it be Sig1In, pin 6 in the DB25, which is servo enable? Does this need to have 24v when the jog is fired? Where should that come from? The Ena for each drive does not seem to do much. I guess that is what pin 3 set to 1 does, is enable the drive all the time. I took another look in the manual...

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question

Thanks. The drivers are all to 0 now, I had to remove an intermediate cable that is meant to go through the box panel, will fix that problem later, for now they all power up but won't move, can't turn the screws. So if my pins are all set correctly, and wires are all correct, when I jog the axis it...

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question

So currently the Z-axis driver is displaying 0, so 0 velocity, but how do I get the Z motor to turn? X and Y are displaying the AL-09, and when I switch the Z-encoder line to Y it shows 0, too. The encoder cables were factory supplied. I put an extension on the end, but that was factory completed, ...

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question

I tried to hook up the X and Y axis to try to get those operational, but both have a blinking error code AL-09, which is an encoder error. Tried to set Fn-003 as per manual, but the clear function returns Err, and on restart does not change. So I've got nothing to move. Any suggestions on a systema...

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question

Thanks. I did now follow the instructions in the "Starter Setting" document. I have set pin 9 to 24v and pin 10 to Com, which is grounded. But I do not have the 90ST-M04025 motor moving from the Acorn. I did not connect the brake, which the z-motor has. But I get no motion or noise at all...

Re: Non centroid Tool Length and 3D probes with Allin1DC

The toolsetter will need to be inverted externally if you are using the probe header. The ALLIN1DC probe header and PLC expects probes that are normally open (like conductive toolsetters). You can use the configurable inputs and invert it there but you will need to change the corresponding parameter...

Re: Homing Sensor Inputs Not Working

It took me a minute but I see the problem here: the Acorn's inputs are internally pulled up to 24V from the 24IN terminal. In effect, you have connected both relay contact terminals to 24V so there is nowhere for current to flow. Connect pin 1 of the relays to signal GND and it should work. When you...
