Re: Magnetic Scales for homing on basic Acorn "Pro" license?
USBBOB also cannot read index pulses as the encoder inputs on it are meant only for handwheel/MPG encoders. Please do not use it for scales or motor encoders. Repeatable homing with an Acorn is going to depend on your homing switches and method. Limit switches would stop the machine from running out...

Re: Chiron ATC
Yes, the tool change gray code would be output using the Acorn or ETHER1616 relays.
It makes sense to me to have an external PLC controlling all of that so the Acorn only has to request a new tool rather than manage 16+ sensors and actuators. I'm interested in how this project will turn out!

Re: Chiron ATC
If I am understanding this correctly, you are planning on using the Delta PLC to handle controlling the ATC movements for a tool requested by Acorn. It may be possible to encode the tool requests in a 4 bit binary code (gray code should work) to use fewer Acorn outputs. Otherwise, an Acorn output pe...

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Good, but there were other things stopping the drives from moving at that time.

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Would that be the Acorn board or the input circuit in the drivers? He did say "Are the drive's digital inputs powered? I believe you need to run 12 to 24 volts and signal ground/power supply common to them to provide the pull up voltage." I interpreted from his drawing that pin 3 was an i...

Please post a current report from the machine.
Were there any changes to the system recently or did it just start happening on its own?

Re: In search of molex crimpers
I think the iWiss/iCrimp IWS-2412M might work for these. There don't seem to be any non-official sabre specific crimpers but these seem to be in the right range to do them. Should be at the price Shawn mentioned and this brand is said to be pretty good.

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Hello, Sylvia here, writing on behalf of the engineer. We've checked the issue last nignt and figured out that there is no pulse signal coming from the breakout board. And the cnc system did control the board. Could you please tell us the spec the the IC in below pic? We want to make sure the outpu...

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Relay lights as in on the blue 8 relay board? That is weird! You don't have any outputs defined so nothing should be happening with those. If you meant the 4 LEDs on the Acorn near the open collector output headers, those indicate that the enable signals are on. At this point, I do not know what cou...

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Do the X or Y move from Acorn control? If so, then make sure the Z enable is set the same way as the X and Y. Regardless, I'd focus on the motors without brakes first.
Are those pictures you mentioned in the google photos album? I don't see them there.
