Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit
OK Thanks Tom I fixed the wiring for the Z axis encoder I spun the spindle by hand and the number count changed so I seems that wiring is correct - I have the spindle encoder plugged into Input 6 however there is still an N in the first column....some more reading will begin shortly 9-) Take a look...

Re: Motion control with 3 independent spindles on router
Switching the spindles in the CNC program would probably be custom macros similar that are similar to tool changes. You could then modify the Virtual Control Panel to have always visible buttons that call those macros to switch spindles manually. There will have to be underlying PLC changes. We've g...

Re: Rotary With 1000 Pulse/Rev And Acron
CNC12 free is capable of 3 axis simultaneous + 4th axis as single moves. Since any axis can be rotary or linear, you don't have to worry about that if it is the only axis controlled by ACORN.

Re: Motion control with 3 independent spindles on router
We're happy to help! We've got a schematic for those Delta axis drives and ACORN: https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersupport/schematics/uploads/s15102.r1.pdf I don't know much about the spindle inverter but you should be able to get it working following the manual and the generic inverter schematics ...

Re: Motion control with 3 independent spindles on router
FYI, cnckeith and I are both Centroid employees. I'm an electronics engineer so I'm mainly focused on the design of the hardware, not applications. Sorry about any confusion I caused, it seems I misinterpreted the picture of the machine and your original description. Could you please give more detai...

Re: Motion control with 3 independent spindles on router
I spoke to some other folks here and there are some ways to do it with an ACORN. It all depends on the configuration of the machine. The easiest, of course, is to just use one spindle and Z axis. That'll get you up and running on modern Windows and using U.S. customary units. Anything more than the ...

Re: Motion control with 3 independent spindles on router
The short answer is that ACORN will not be able to do this. It is only capable of controlling one spindle. ACORN6 is able to run two spindles but I am not sure if that feature is currently released or not. The only solution I can see is to use OAK and the analog expansion board ADD4AD4DA. This will ...

Re: Bridgeport EzPath Lathe,Acorn Board & Handwheels
The simplest way that does not involve cutting up existing cables is to make a short patch cable that breaks out the +5V line. Make sure the power supplies share a common negative.
