Re: South Western Industries TRAK DPM All in One DC Conversion

I have a client that would like his new to him TRAK DPM converted to Centroid. The machine has a late 90's vintage A.G.E. 3 Control

A few questions

1. The machine has Acu-Rite Non-Absolute Scales on X/Y/Zquill. He would like to reuse them with Centroid. Does anyone know if these scales output ...

Re: New Acorn install help

Doug,

I did not see anything in your report that should stop it from working.

Does plugging the step/dir from the Y1 drive into the X drive work?

Do you have a multimeter or oscilloscope available? We can prove that the Acorn is outputting the step, direction, and enable signals with either of ...

Re: Bridgeport BOSS R2E4 Conversion - DC3IO - 411 and No Motion on any Axis

Alright, I come bearing more good news. Turns out that some of the issues I alluded to in my previous post were of the PEBCAK variety. Call it a case of RTFM, maybe...

I've run into plenty of PEBCAK errors myself. Glad that was all that was wrong with running the motors and moving the axes ...

Re: Bridgeport BOSS R2E4 Conversion - DC3IO - 411 and No Motion on any Axis

When the servos are enabled, they will resist changes in position. If the servo was off (e-stop engaged or power released from the drive) then it would spin freely.

After writing all of the stuff below, I realized that your first step should be to unmount or uncouple all of the motors from the ...

Re: Bridgeport BOSS R2E4 Conversion - DC3IO - 411 and No Motion on any Axis

Yes, you should reverse those wires at the DC3IO and leave the rest as is.

Well, do that after replacing the segment(s) with damaged insulation and installing the new terminals.

Re: Bridgeport BOSS R2E4 Conversion - DC3IO - 411 and No Motion on any Axis

Marc, I see one of our rectifier assemblies in the first picture. It looks like a white wire is going to the minus terminal but the wires should still be traced back to it all the same.

I agree that the positive and negative VM wires are crossed and there is a reasonable chance that it has survived ...

Re: New Acorn install help

Yes I made them all work be plugging them into the X axis
Thanks

One thing I'd try is plugging the X axis drive's step and direction signals into the other drives. If that doesn't work then there is something wrong with the other drive configurations. If it does work, it means that the wiring ...

Re: New Acorn install help

X drive is the one that is working?
And you made all of the motors move by plugging them into the X axis drive? Or did the other drives work with the X axis motor?

I do not see any immediate issues in the pictures.
I did notice that Y2 has the wiring going to the motor switched on the A phase. I ...

Re: New Acorn install help

Hi again,
Got only one motor to work, would imagine enabling it, did it?...it didn't for the others though, I can't seem to see what i missed
Only the one drive operating, I'm obviously missing something plus probably not understanding the instructions!
I swapped the motor signal connection ...

Can confirm that M11 is present in both of those files attached.
