Acorn lathe Axes directions reversed after Upgrade

Greetings,

Our CNCT was at v4.10, and then we acquired a WMPG-4 kit. Needed minimum of v4.12 to use it, so I followed all instructions in upgrading to v4.18 from pre v4.14. After upgrade with all settings entered into the Wizard from images taken prior to upgrade, the Z- & X-axis were reversed (jogging with Z- moved the tool away from the spindle, X+ moved the tool to the back, etc). Simply changing the settings in the wizard for axis direction solved the direction problem, but introduced X- & Z-axis +/- limit issues. In short, everything is upside-down.

I explored simply reversing the direction of the servos inside the DMM4 drives, but can find no ready way to do that.

I've attached images of the pre-upgrade Wizard settings along with the pre- & post-upgrade reports.

Thanks for your attention and any help... much appreciated!!

hello. are the axis motors step and direction signal wired to the DB25 or the Screw Terminals?

Hi... the servos are connected to the DMM4 drives via the DB25.

Any idea on why this would have happened???

yeah.. change the setting from "Screw Terminal" to "DB25" in this menu.

be sure to press "write settings to CNC control" follow instructions..then close wizard and reboot CNC12.

Hi Again... I had not noticed that the pre-update image had Terminal Block selected. I went into the v4.18 settings, and that actually had DB25 selected. I did turn off Mapping though, and then revalidated all the settings... all is as should be.

After rebooting and powering back on, I retested and still have the same problematic conditions.

The thing that seems so weird is that while I can make the Axes move in their proper direction by checking the Direction boxes in Axes Inversion (or by flipping the Direction Reversal in the DMM Dyn4 Config), the limits are also screwed up. When CNC12 comes up with the tools in a position well within the work envelope, the X- limit is tripped; I have to set the 2ndAxisLimit switch to NO rather than the correct NC setting to get it to move. HOME limits are out of whack to the point that if I don't intervene, a crash will occur.

Without any other ideas, I think my next step is to revert back to v4.10, and see if the problems shows up there, or it too is "upside-down".

Thoughts????
Thanks!!

David

David,
dyn4's work just fine with v4.18 on a lathe.
sounds to me you are down the rabbit hole with double reversal settings.
install teamviewer 12 and i'll be glad to help you sort it out.

Step/direction signals from header to DB25 reversed. This occurred in later software revisions.
Simply swap the motor direction in axis configuration. (What says N change to Y, what says Y change to N) I just had this happen on a project I resurrected yesterday. It was running CNC12 4.10

Hi Guys... thanks for the support and info. Rabbit-hole indeed.

Marty, flipping the direction settings was my first step toward resolving this. But what I found was my limits were all blown-out as well. Did you experience similar issues, or simply the reversal of direction problem??

Keith, I've got another project going, but will get TV installed ASAP and be in touch when ready.

My limits were fine. That doesn't change.....They are physically on the end of an axis which is identifiable.
It seems as though you do need some support and are not familiar with the control configuration.
Keith is going to need to know which end of each axis your home/limit switches are...
The Wizard will let you fix what you need fixing.

Yeah... probably right. FYI though, the limit switches are in the middle of the travel spans with soft limits on either end.
