Hello, I’m Mary and I have a Centroid Acorn CNC control system set up with a 3 axis CNC Router Engraver Machine(aka “Chinese Router”) to do woodworking projects with.
I wanted to make a basic video YouTube channel called Mary’s MakeShop about my journey of learning the Acorn CNC control system as well as the projects I’m working on. This is the start of my DIY CNC hobby and sharing it through YouTube. I hope that others who want to get into DIY CNC will be helped by my videos and maybe inspired by what is possible.
Anyway, I just posted my first video. Would love to hear your feedback and any questions you have. I’ll certainly try to post videos to answer questions and hope that you all will do the same for me when I run into problems.
Everyone please stay safe with your machine!
Mary

Great job there lass!
You young folks' communications & production skills on youtube flabbergast me. I did a few video editing projects back in the 80's on VHS/S-VHS and it was a real pain.
Anyway, welcome aboard & keep 'em coming!

Mary, nice job. However, I think you may have something incorrect in your video. You showed a CNC controller the had a connector that was not a DB25, and indicated that it was not meant to interface with a parallel port. That is incorrect. The port is a centronics interface and was found on printers and the like some time ago. These connectors are compatible, but require the correct cable to interface. Just thought you may like to know.

I saw that too....Mike, we are showing our age here

(That's why I didn't mention it) Oh remember Okidata? Star Micronics (oh, never mind)
However, because it has the Centronics connector it would be interesting to see the schematic from it. Never know what the Chinese do.
One of the new features in Acorn 3 is the ability to assign the pins on the DB25. It offers that flexibility so you can do as Mary did, plug in a DB25 from a legacy parallel port system and assign the signals to match the breakout board inputs or motor driver inputs provided it uses the DB25

Thanks DICKEYBIRD! I use Movavi studio, so it’s been pretty intuitive. I know I have it super easy compared to your video editing projects back in the day. I already know where to start improving though... I didn’t realize until I uploaded the video that my cockatiel, Sunshine, was chirping the entire time.

Oops!
Hopefully my videos just get better from here!
