If I purchase the Part #10814 @ $305 for usage with my lathe, will it also work with my mill later when it's ready? I will purchase a separate Acorn & Pro software upgrade for the mill.

Nope.
In CNC12 Centroid has discontinued the cad to dxf feature in Intercon. We felt there are diminishing returns with us spending resources into making a cad/cam module inside of intercon when there are so many good capable CAD to G-Code systems available...such as Fusion 360. This will allow us to devote our time and energies into making the best possible CNC Control software and not be distracted by trying to recreate a cad/cam system within our conversational software.

OK no problem, thanks. Here's hoping Dolphin Turn has a solid post-processor for Centroid. Haven't got that far yet but I'm betting they do. The mill will need 2.5D stuff only so Intercon will be fine.

When I get my act together and finish building machines, I am going to give Fusion 360 a go. Both CAD/CAM in one, free for non commercial use (at this time) and lots of support out there for it both from Autodesk and YouTube creators....

Intercon works well for the basic stuff.....

Hmmm, I checked the Dolphin site & they don't show a lathe PP for Centroid. Is there a system that Centroid resembles such as Fanuc or ???

Fusion 360 works really well for milling. I use it a lot. I have not tried it with turning yet, but I have posted a couple programs, and they seem to be correct with the Centroid post processor.

I had pretty poor luck trying to use Fusion 360 to build a workable toolpath for my lathe in Mach 3. I'm sure a lot of that can be attributed to my inexperience with both programs.

I've been using Fusion for a while and can't fault it really. It's a learning curve like everything else but well worth it. If your not using it, it's a bit like using mach 3 instead of Centroid.
