I went into the Wizard and reversed the Enable on Drive 2 just to check, but no go.
At this point, I'm going to go back to basics and pull a CL57T out onto the bench and wire up a single motor (ala Marty)
I also would like to get MotionStudio working. I connected the cable to my CL57T and found COM3 was active, but all I see is Drive Opening or something like that. No other menu items seem to do anything.
If all that fails, I will put one of the old HSC57 drives in and bench test with that.
This will all take me a while, but I'll be back
THANKS everyone!

Normal Workflow:
Connect power, encoder and stepper wires
Connect Motion Studio or other tuner for the drive
Test if the drive is ok.
If not find error
If yes connect to Acorn and test if the stepper is turning.
If yes, mount on the machine

You could disable closed loop mode with dip switch #6 and try them as open loop just to see what happens.

If the drive locks when you power it up you don't need the ENABLE line. Most all stepper drives are enabled by default. Very few are not.
As Ken mentioned, if the encoder is wired wrong the drive would fault internally when you try to move it and the red LED would blink on the drive 7 times.
Gary, if you switch SW6 to ON which puts the drive into open drive mode and not closed loop does it move?
Edit, Scott beat me to the test with SW6.

7 blinks = wrong encoder cable connected to the drive, and/or mixed up encoder wires, and/or mixed up motor phase connections.

I'm sorry guys, I haven't checked on this thread for a few days. Been trying different options. I will go down and follow these suggestions to see if it makes a difference.
I'll be back

OK
I gave up on the 5V Dir and Step connections and changed to 24V. I found that the motor would buzz when I clicked + or - and the motor was not locked up after.
So the tip that we don't need Enable if the motor locks up was helpful. I disconnected En+ and En-, powered everything up, loaded CNC12 and happily I now have smooth motion on one motor Yay!
There was some discussion earlier that I had EB+ and EB- reversed. I found this documentation on StepperOnline's site which explains why I did it the way I did. Not saying anyone is right or wrong, just why I did it the way I did.
Thanks everyone for the help.
Ewe I re-read your instructions. I didn't realize drive needed to be disconnected from CL57. So I will give that another try too

Slowly getting it all put back together. Have discovered a couple of un connected wires, ugh.
But one thing has popped up.
I can turn the motor using MDI commands or running a program, but it will not turn when clicking on the X+ or X- to jog from the main screen. What could cause that?
I promise, someday I'll get this all back and running and I'll go back into obscurity

Do you have INCR jog mode selected, or CONT mode?
People often fail to notice the motor movement when they are jogging in INCR, with x1 or x10.

CNCSNW,
I'm happy to say that was not the problem.
But that gave me ideas of other things to look into.
I found that with the jog speed set to High (rabbit) I could indeed jog.
So I went into the Wizard and found my low jog speed set to 0!!! I didn't do that on purpose and i didn't think that was possible, but setting it to a positive number solved the jogging issue.
THANKS for your help!
