If the switches are in the middle of the travel span, they cannot be limit switches. Are you referring to your home switch location?

Haysys wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2019 2:04 pm Yeah... probably right. FYI though, the limit switches are in the middle of the travel spans with soft limits on either end.
I see that in looking at your screen shots.
This is easily fixable.
PM Keith and give him your contact information. He's GENEROUSLY offered to help.

Tom, yes, they are home switches. Take a look at his screen shots. They are using soft limits ...

OK Guys, I now have a better idea of what is going on...

Understanding that the physical limit switches are mid-transversal of the X- & Z-axes travel gave me the clue. In the homing operation, the system uses those switches to find home position. But in operation and normal table travel, I believe the system must ignore the physical switches and rely only on the +/- soft limits entered in the Wizard. Thus what I initially thought was some kind of "flipping" of the limits, is actually some setting that controls how/when CNCT behaves depending on the "mode" it is in; Homing: React to Limit Switches, Operation: Ignore Limit Switches.

The question then is: Where do I set such a parameter???

this is inherent in the selection made in the Wizard i/o menu.
when you choose any of these input selections

HomeAll
FirstAxisHomeOK
SecondAxisHomeOk
etc..

that input will be defined as a Home Switch. Home switches are used for homing and are not limit switches.
once the machine is homed then the home switch is ignored if triggered during normal operation (running a G code program or jogging around. etc..)

if the home switches are in the middle of the travel and will get triggered during normal operation then use a Home switch specific input definitions like HomeAll or FirstAxisHomeOK ....

and then software travel limits will take care of the travel limits in both directions from the home switches and/or you can employ actual limit switches and use "LimitAll" to save on inputs.

post photos of your machine and home switch setups so we can comment specifically on your machine.

Hi,

As you can see from the pics, I have 1st & 2nd Home axis selected in I/O. Here's the pics:

Hi Guys... I've found the problem with homing/limits. When I was re-inputting the I/O settings, I incorrectly selected FirstAxisHomeLimitOK (& SecondAxis...) rather than FirstAxisHomeOK. Once I changed that, I was able to traverse the full range of travel in both axes without hitting a limit. Thanks for the hints... it caused me to take a closer look.

I am experiencing some different homing behavior in that I seem to need to have the tools in a specific quadrant (using Alt-i showing the signal status) to have both Home switches made (green) to get it to home without it objecting with a "Home switch tripped... stop cycle and clear, then re-home" message. Moving the table until both switches are green is required before Home operation can be successfully completed. This behavior is definitely different than what we had prior to the upgrade (could home from anywhere).

This issue may need it's own thread, but off the top, does this ring any bells??

Thanks so much for your help in resolving my primary issues... Much Appreciated!!

David

Ohhh... I meant to acknowledge your generous offer to help with a TV session. I did install it and was trying to get some time to get you in, but the day has not been my own. But again Keith, thanks much for your generous offer!!

the homing direction settings in the wizard determine the homing direction that the machine will seek the home switch when you press cycle start.
so the tool needs to be positive of the switch if the home direction is going to go negative to find it. etc..
create a custom park program using the wizard and then you can park the machine close to the switches on the proper side so the next time you power up all you have to do is hit cycle start to home the machine.

OK. That makes sense. Thanks again!!
