I'll have to check that out. as I say i am new to Acorn, but by the same token, why not just have it all on one screen, no flipping back and forth at all. Most commercial cnc controllers are the same, they have a graphics screen as well as the dro.

On acorn if you switch from the DRO screen to the Graphics screen, your machine STOPS. That isnt a good thing if you're in the middle of a project.
If you from the F4 "Run Menu" screen turn on Realtime Graphics you can switch back and forth between GCode and Graphics without stopping the machine.

Edit: Actually re-reading what you said - you are not using the run time graphing function now.
Your statement is correct.
You can toggle back and forth between G code and RTG...no issues.

Marty

Yes, you are correct Marty. Having only been using Acorn for a very short while, I hadnt discovered that feature yet, so it appears as though Acorn does have the necessary features, however it would still be nice not to have to flip screens, but that's a minor thing.

By the way I must congratulate you for such a good series of videos on hooking up the Acorn. I particularly needed the one dealing with the Leadshine drivers. Without that information I would have had some serious issues. Your explanation made it very easy. I also have a straight stepper driver, of that variety with NO encoders, so I just hooked it up the same way and got things running.

Now I'm on to the inputs for digitizer etc, then get it all back in my controller box. I have lots more work to do now since I'm also replacing my old steppers with hybrid units, new cables, installing limits and on and on.

I'll no doubt be back with some questions when it comes time to configure the steps per inch....

thanks Marty, great job.

Pete
