turns ratio for rack and pinion

Post by Charlie.G »

Hi,
I need a bit of help I have looked through most of the posts here
and I couldn't find info on using rack and pinion, I tried several
setting but the were way off at the 5 turns per rev it moves about 6
inches or so....here is my setup,
I have a cnc router with rack and pinion drive,
gecko 203v's, kelling motors, connected to a 4 to 1 belt drive
with 30 tooth pinions. the pinions have a pitch dia of 1.5 inches.
the 203v's are set up @ 2000 steps per rev.

Thank you,
Charlie

There is nothing different about configuring a rack and pinion.

How far does the axis move when the motor rotates 1 revolution? That's the number that goes into the "Overall Turns Ratio" in the Wizard. By default it is set to 5 motor revolutions per 1 inch of travel. You can also follow this TB to set it. http://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppor ... ds/036.pdf
