Hi all, My name is Ron and I have big harbor freight Bench top mill. I'm new to the cnc world and I'm trying to convert my mill to cnc. I've changed the motor to a 2 hp DC, it has a Penta Drive dc motor speed control Nema-4x / IP-65. My question is will the Acorn control the motor control driver for the spindle? and if so that would the wiring be to make it work.
Thanks for the help, Ron

Re: Spindle Control with the Acorn
Do you have a diagram for this controller that you can post?it has a Penta Drive dc motor speed control
Acorn can control most drive controllers if the controller will take a 0-10vdc signal. Just download the Centroid pre-prepared drawings from the website and it will show you how to wire all the inputs and outputs.
There are several examples of wire for different types of drives.

Re: Spindle Control with the Acorn
Which drive do you have? Some have reversing with analog in, but not all of them. Penta drives are basically just KB electronics DC drives in a box. At least all the ones I have seen are.rc211961 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 10:01 am Hi all, My name is Ron and I have big harbor freight Bench top mill. Re: Spindle Control with the Acorn
You MUST use the signal isolator with the DC drive. As others have mentioned, need to know which DC drive you have, model number.rc211961 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 10:01 am Hi all, My name is Ron and I have big harbor freight Bench top mill. Re: Spindle Control with the Acorn
Here is the full manual: https://www.kbelectronics.com/manuals/K ... manual.pdf
You need the signal isolator.
Do you need to reverse the spindle for anything? If not, all you need is the signal isolator. Acorn will control it.
Use the KBIC Motor Control Schematic as a guide.
