Estun servo shuts off when acorn attempts to jog axis <<Resolved>>..

Post by amtekinc »

I have put this system on a 4 by 8 ft router. Acorn is up and running. Am able to tune the Estun Pronet with EMJ motors and jog them with the Estun front panel. However, when I attempt to jog with the Acorn, they immediately base block. RPM recognition is set to 3000 and I am only commanding a 10% feedrate move of 50 ipm. Very low rpm move and they base block immediately. Any ideas?

What does "BASEBLOCK" mean?

Is the Estun set to position mode?
Is the pulse waveform set for step and direction?
Is the electronic gear ratio correct?
Did you follow the "ACORN_rev3 CONNECTIONS TO ESTUN PRONET-E.pdf" hookup schematic?

On Estun panel "bb" represents base block and that means base current is shut off to power transistors. I am in position mode and set for step and direction. Electronic gear ratio is set. I did use the schematics supplied by Centroid for acorn - estun pronet hookup. I am going to recheck my gear ratio. The drive immediately goes into base block when acorn disables the drive. This happens when attempting to jog with acorn. Otherwise, setting up the Estun seems simple. However, what they call autotuning seems very manual to me. Not like Yaskawa, where Yaskawa actually moves the motor to determine parameters. If I am wrong, someone, please, let me know. Thanks.

I have posted a report from the acorn. Went through the Estun setup again and with same results. I am wondering if Acorn is shutting off the Estun when I attempt to jog. I can only jog through the Estun front panel. Front panel on Estun indicates that the command is exceeding the RPM limitations in the drive, normally set at 20 rpm. I turned it up to 3000 rpm and still got the same results.

Is it an enable circuit that needs to be inverted perhaps?
If you have a drive enable circuit connect to EN connectors next to STP DR, you might try and invert the Enable signal in the Wizard, Advanced Tab 4 if I remember correctly.

Thanks, Marty. I have tried that. When I invert, it never turns on. i have tried to use PLC Detective, but, I can't find anything out of the ordinary. I am thinking there is something in the my cable from Estun to Acorn that might be goofy. I am going to check that.

This sounds correct, I assume you meant the opposite. Does the base block occur when you enter MDI instead of jogging?
Front panel on Estun indicates that the command is exceeding the RPM limitations in the drive
There is no such error that I can see in the manual. For best results, be more specific. Check the error again and make sure you are looking under the "Position Control Mode" column in the chart.

I solved the problem with the drive. Turns out that the parameter settings on the Centroid supplied schematic were not quite correct for this drive. Particularly in the electronic gearing. Scaling was waaaay off. These are original parameters supplied with changes in red that made it operational
1. Set drive parameters to factory default values.
2. Edit the following parameters:
PN000
Bit1 = 1
Bit2 = 1
PN004
Hex2 = 0
Hex3 = 2
PN005
Hex1 = 1
Hex3 = 1
PN100 = 0
PN200 = 1024
PN201 = 10000 change to 256
PN202 = 4096 change to 1
3.Cycle power to the drive.
4. Run Acorn setup wizard and set Steps/Rev to 4096.
Refer to ProNet manual for tuning.

These are the pictures of the router and the project. For some reason, they did not attach to last post.

Again, I edit and add pictures. I see them in preview, but, not after posting. I have spent waaaaaay to much time on this stuff today. Blown the 80/20 rule again over things that I can't control. So the linking to google photo albums actually works and will be my preferred way of displaying my pics.

Any questions and I will be happy to answer them. Thanks for all of your help. You guys are great!
