how to upgrade CNC10 to a new computer

Post by nieberar »

I have an old Pentium III computer that died and now need to replace the computer. Can I upgrade the to a new computer (ie. HP 8200) with a i3 processor with the CNC10 Linux software. Can this Linux softer run on a newer computer?

Unfortunately, the only way to find out would be to test it out but if I was going to guess, I would say that you are going to find out that it will not work. Newer motherboards aren't compatible with the Linux kernel that your CNC10 software is built on. That is one of the reasons why Centroid switched their CNC11 systems to Windows based as the majority, if not all, motherboard manufacturers are compatible with Windows.
When requesting support, please ALWAYS post a current report. Find out how to take a report from your Acorn, CNC11 or CNC10 system here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecvg0VJp1oQ.

If your question is PLC, Macro or program related, please also post a copy of the program or macro as well.

Without the above information we may not be able to help and/or reply until the required information is posted..
