Any timeline yet on the expansion board that you can safely share with us Keith?

i don't like putting out a release time.... as people tend to be a bit harsh if you missed a projection...
rest assured we are working on it.. its going to be great..and its got to go thru beta testing...."we will sell no wine before its time"

This will be a fantastic addition to the Acorn - really looking forward to getting one of these set up. It's been a struggle keeping the IO within the the limitations of the basic Acorn unit, so this will be a real step forward!

Re: Any word on the I/O expansion acorn board.
Been a couple months since this has been brought up wondered if there were any release dates in mind for the acorn expansion board?
Thank you
Thank you

Re: Any word on the I/O expansion acorn board.
short answer.. "as soon as possible"
hardware is done..software needs to catch up. THe "ether1616" release is slated to coincide with the cnc12 v4.16 release.

Do you have a software release roadmap? Curious about 4.14.

Re: Any word on the I/O expansion acorn board.
Having 16 additional outputs and 16 additional inputs gives a possibility of adding hundreds of discrete devices to an ACORN. For instance, if four outputs were connected to a single 74138 chip, that single chip could select from eight separate "devices", and assuming that each device was another 74xxx series chip capable of handling eight inputs or eight outputs, you suddenly can handle 64 more I/O points. Using six output lines with one hardwired inverter (transistor or 7404 gate), you could control four 74138 chips, expanding I/O to 256 inputs and/or outputs.
For those who like to play logic games, think of the possibilities if one 74138 chip were connected to eight other 74138 chips, then that one chip could pick any one of eight other chips and each of those eight chips could connect to devices with each of those devices connected to eight I/O lines. That gives us 512 I/O points. Two 74138 chips would give us 1024 I/O points.
I'm waiting with cautious optimism to see how user friendly and how expandable the new board wil be.
