homing file changing on it's own. (Fixed, but I still think it's a bug)
This is 5.04 but I thought it may have come up in this beta area. After acorn does it's weekly report, it changes my custom home file. I have it saved and can drop my file back in, but I would like to know why this is happening and if I can stop it from happening again, or if I can stop it from auto generating the report.
This is without me going into the wizard to do anything.

Re: homing file changing on it's own.
What do you have set for homing in the wizard? Auto and "I will create my own", or "Wizard to create"?
I forget which version it was, but at one point, if you set homing to Auto/Create my own and then went to the next page, which is Axis Paring, and then went back to Homing, the choice was reset back to "Wizard to create". I've never noticed a weekly report changing mine though.

Re: homing file changing on it's own.
I changed it to create my own after seeing the issue. I wasn't using the wizard, so I didn't think it would change homing on it's own. It has happened twice the last two weeks, so it will be a week before I know if it does it again.
It changes my homing point and would mess up the z setting switch because of that. I didnt' notice anything else being changed, but without running the wizard, I'm surprised it messes with my homing file.
Do you know how to stop it from generating the report? That is my second option to try and keep the machine from messing up.

Re: homing file changing on it's own.
I think this is the 7th acorn system I have done and this is a first for me. None of the other ones changed back to a canned home version without me regenerating something in the wizard. I don't know if I should try a newer version or an older one.

Re: homing file changing on it's own.
I'd try the latest release. In your other thread, you mentioned changing "Axis Pairing", and like I said, there was a version not to far back that would revert the homing settings after going to the "Axis Pairing" page, and after writing the changes, it would overwrite the cncm.hom file. There could have been another part of that issue that was tied to what you are seeing, and is more specific to your config.
As a test, you could try changing the system date to force a report creation.
I've never seen a report creation (auto or manual) change my custom homing routine, but have had the wizard do it numerous times after configuring it not to.

Re: homing file changing on it's own.
I have used the wizard to change limit's and rapid speeds and it didn't change the homing file that way. Just the auto report. What is strange is the manual report I saved did not save my custom home file. I found that out when I did a restore, after the issue and that did not fix it. I had to manually drop my file back in.
I am going to play with it more today, but I would think the report should put my custom homing file in there.

Re: homing file changing on it's own.
So the answer seems to be, if custom home file is not checked in the wizard, it will make reports without saving the custom home file on your system. It also changes your system on it's own when it does a weekly report. It did not do this on 4.82 but at least now I know.

ken the only way the home file would change is if you made a custom one and did not tell the Wizard that you are writing your own custom home program.
are you using a custom home program?
also press CTRL P in the Wizard and it will make a PDF of your current settings, you can post that on your threads when talking about the wizard

Re: homing file changing on it's own. (Fixed, but I still think it's a bug)
I am using a custom homing file.
I did not have it checked in the wizard and changed that. I understand if I go into the wizard it will change back if not checked. What was happening is it changed without me going into the wizard.
