Timing Pulley
I have a timing pulley that has 16 teeth with .625" shaft diameter and I want to upgrade the servo motors. All the Clearpath servo motors that I looked at have a .500" shaft diameter. The closest timing pulley that I have found that's has .500" shaft diameter has 18 teeth. Will this timing pulley work for the job. I has the same pitch and belt width except for the number of teeth. Thanks

Re: Timing Pulley
It will change the reduction rate, or you have to change the other pulley also.

Re: Timing Pulley
You could look at Fenner tran-torque bushings. You could use your current pulley by boring it out to fit the bushing.
If you go with a different tooth count pulley you'll change the gear ratio as Uwe states, and it will also require a different belt length.

Re: Timing Pulley
For such a small diameter Timing pulley you might struggle to find a suitable locking bush with small enough OD that you could fit to your bored out, original 18T without excessive weakening, if at all.
Not sure where you are located but on this side of the pond, 18T pulleys are sold with pilot holes only. That is simply bored out / drilled to your required diameter. I'm in the UK and use Huco - Their 18T example (XL Tooth profile and 1/4" belt width) as follows:

Edited to add link to 16T version of above (I mistakenly referred to 18T instead of your 16T original)

Re: Timing Pulley
Tran-torque 1/2” id bushing requires a 7/8 bore. Keyless bushings are far superior to keyways and setscrews.

Re: Timing Pulley
Precisely my point. The 16T center flange has a diameter of just 0.63" (16mm) so no can do unless another type can be found. Otherwise agree.
Hope this helps

Re: Timing Pulley
Thanks for your quick reply and info. I believe I found the pulley i need from huco:

I forgot to the location to my original post sorry about that (USA). Your help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Timing Pulley
I get all my pulleys from B&B Manufacturing here in the US. They offer imperial and metric pulleys and will custom bore anything all at very reasonable prices. All pricing is available online and most pulleys are in stock. I don't know what pitch belt you have or belt width but they have 1/2" bore with 16 teeth.
