I just completed building a PM-30MV based CNC mill running Acorn CNC v12 and am in the learning stages. I have successfully milled round, square, lines and arc combinations objects, and even a few square and round pockets. Next on my learning path is milling a pocket (square, round, odd shape, etc.) with an island remaining in the center. This is where I am stuck and am not sure how to start.
I am using square 3"x3" hdpe stock that is 2" thick. The goal is to mill a 2"x2" pocket 1" deep with a 1"x1" round island (cylinder) remaining in the center. I am using a low cost 1/4" 3 flute endmill.
Help!!!
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Pocket island milling
For machining a pocket leaving an Island you need to choose CLEANOUT from Canned Cycles and then insert an Island - See Mill manual from page 130
