Speed around corners

Post by TinyMan »

G'day guys
Can anyone point me into the right cut direction ... the torch seems to be speeding up into the corners
Tried smoothing settings without luck ... Nothing in the Profile Manager settings ..
So I'm a little lost
Appreciate any help :D

Can you post some of the G-code jobs from the example Pictures.

Does the same thing happen without smoothing?

Try setting parameter 223 to 300
Path to the Parameters list from the home screen is F1 Setup>F3 Config>F3 Parameters

This will Lower the Vector rate with smoothing and should help for smoothing speeding up in arcs.

What Kind of Drives are on X,Y and Z? Is this a direct rack and pinion table?

Pictures of each axis and the drives would help

Hi Joey
The machine is using CL86Y drivers for all three axis
Attached are photos of the gantry rack & pinion. I'm not cleaver enough to tell you the gearing in this thing. However, I can tell you best "Overall Turns Ratio" I can get for X Y is 29ish mm/turn.
This figure falls just outside the bottom of the "Sweet Spot" graph in the user/setup manual .

The XY drivers are set to 3200 step/rev this was the only place where the machine didn't try to tear itself apart :?

Smoothing was on during these cuts both in "Precision" and "Contouring". We played with the Parameters 223-300 in F9 customized presets.

Apart from the minor hick ups every now and then, the machine is cutting beautifully as you can see in the pictures (1/4" mild steel

Those are some nice cuts. Clean and smooth.

Is the Wizard set to 3200 steps/rev for X and Y?

I think the last report I saw something like 6400

Can you post a fresh report with the latest settings.

Can I see the dip switch settings on the drives?

Did setting Parameter 223 to the 100-300 range help?

G'day Joey
Yes the dip switches are definitely set to 3200
No it didn't help ... so I tried to set the P230 (curve speed multiplier) to 5% maybe slow it a bit more .. but minimum you can go is 10%
So I just changed P223 to 150 as a starting point... He'll be testing it out tomorrow morning .. I'll keep you posted
But you're right, the cuts are better than the fiber laser :P the owners are over the moon !!!

Man still got that nagging issue of the laser pointer and setting offset :)

Lowering the Parameter P223 should help with Arcs. I wouldn't take P223 below 100.

Setting the Drives to 6400 and the wizard to match should also fix the speed up issue.

The Laser offset issue is puzzling. I've even loaded your report on a fresh 5.08 build and Laser set X/Y functioned as expected.

I've sent a Message with My Contact Info if you want to TeamView to check that out.
