Laser Alignment
I'm trying to set the offset between the plasma nozzle and the laser pointer;
the measured offset is -68(x) 5(y)
I've tried editing the mfunc35.mac and entering the above G92 X[-68] Y[5]
That didn't work ...
Then added the numbers into Acorn Wizard >> Input Devices >> Cross hair laser setup
Didn't work either
Using the "Laser Set XY", sets zero, but without the offset ..
What have I missed??

Re: Laser Alignment
I think your using the machine coordinate to find the laser Offset
Try this
Fire the torch on the material so that it makes a mark on the material.
After firing the torch and marking the material, select the WCS 0 button on the VCP.
Now enable the laser and jog the laser cross hair to the center of the plasma mark you just made on the material.
The Work coordinate displayed on the DRO should show the Laser Offset.
The lasers distance in X and Y from the center of the torch is the laser offset.

Re: Laser Alignment
Hi Joey,
Thanks for the solution ... it sort of worked
Following your suggestion, the DRO indeed said-68, +5
OK, so here's the problems;

- Yes, it see an offset and displays that offset on DRO, but when you actually want to set the corner of you work piece (X0,Y0) it loses that offset.

Re: Laser Alignment
Selecting set XY will still set the WC 0 with out the laser offset.
Selecting the button on the VCP that says Set XY with a crosshair around it is the button your looking for.

Re: Laser Alignment
Joey,
Hi ... That's exactly what I'm doing .. test fire, then click "Laser Set XY" follow the on screen macro instruction to set the offset
After this is done, I want to move to a piece which requires cutting, I need to select start point on that piece ... that's where I'm saying its losing the ability to recognize the offset of -68(x)+5(Y) which was previously set by the macro.
And my question was, isn't the offset suppose to be recorded by CNC12 and each time you set the laser point on a job corner it should apply the offset ??

Re: Laser Alignment
Yes once the laser offset is set in the Wizard. The VCP laser set XY button should only activate the laser and ask the operator to jog the laser to the XY 0 location. The macro will then set zero and apply the offset that was set in the wizardTinyMan wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 6:56 pm Joey,

Re: Laser Alignment
OK so that's not happening for me...
I copied a new mfunc35 file into the directory, thinking maybe there was something wrong there ...
I set the XY pointer offsets back to zero in the wizard..
none of those have worked

Re: Laser Alignment
I was not able to replicate any issues or the Laser offset in the Wizard not working.
Id be happy to try a TeamViewer session with you to try and pinpoint this issue.
