Cheapest way to add a ADC to MPU11/GPIO4D

I need a single 0-10V(or 0-20ma) analog input for spindle load monitoring on my MPU11/GPIO4D lathe. What is the least expensive way to add this?

There aren't any analog inputs on the GPIO4D so with a GPIO4D system, an add-on board, ADD4AD4DA, is required in order to connect an analog input into the system. The PLC program will also need to be modified. The attached tech bulletin should help you out with customizing your PLC program.

I knew about the ADD4 board, but I was hoping for a little less expensive solution since I only needed one input. Are the PLC Expansion ports and communication protocol on the GPIO4D documented anywhere so I can create my own analog input board?

The least expensive method of adding an analog input would be through a OpticDirect PN12554 $450.00 Unfortunately, the protocol information is proprietary and not available for distribution.

Thanks, Scott. That's still a little steep considering a spindle load meter is a "nice to have" and not "need to have".
