Re: Cnc Mill part identifying and questions on servo powerin
#1- don't know. what is it connected to? Could work numerous things.
#2- Hi-Lo speed lever. It engages/disengages the back gear to change speed ranges. Reed switch tells computer what speed range it is in so the spindle will spin in proper direction because the spindle direction reverses when back gear is engaged.
#3- Spindle brake lever....
#4- 3 phase voltage spike supressor.
#5- I don't know your machine and the pictures don't help. Do you have a schematic of it? Are you saying that the original servos are driven by 79 volts?
Just use your step down transformer and follow circuit in AJAX literature to wire up DC power supply.
Are you anywhere in the North NJ area? if so, I may be able to help you.

Re: Cnc Mill part identifying and questions on servo powerin
The servos have a 135 amp rating. The 79Volts was before the cap/rectifier - i measured 134.4V out of the cap. Aparently there were also chokes on each axis after the cap. There are three of the powertron chokes as seen in the picture above - one for each axis. Anyone use chokes on their setup?

The new setup is getting mounted. Here is where I ended up at 2am last night. Grey sides are wire trough with cover on.

Re: Cnc Mill Build
Been working on the wiring a lot. Have most every "system" wired in that comes in from conduit. The VFD's power is wired in and it is connected to the spindle. I have motion on the spindle. Also have all the power circuits wired in - 220V, 110V transformer, 72V/79V transformer and cap/rectifier, 24V power supply. Also have a 110Vpower strip wired into the monitor cabinet and the RJ45 wired there. Also made a temp setup for my 15" touchscreen and went ahead and hooked up the computer. Notice the little Gigabyte Brix computer I am using (looking at the pic teh keyboard is on it and it is left of the monitor cable). It is 4"X4"X1" - 3227 chip, 16GB mem, 128GB SSD, gigabit wired connection, Wireless lan card, 2 USB 3.0, HDMI and mini display. Pretty sweet.
Testing for each step so that starts next. 24V Estop, Estop contactor, and limit switches are first up I guess. I also need to wire up the encoders - thats what the DB32 breakout is for under the controller. I kept the dynapath connection and will just wire it up and will wire it to DB9 Max Blocks (Ill show those soon).

Re: Cnc Mill Build
Got the encoders wired. The original dynapath delta 20 had a DB37 connector for the encoders so rather than destroying that I bought a DB37 breakout DIN rail mountable break out connector. I wired it up to three BTX MaxBlox DB9 Male connectors - so all connections were screw down terminals.
Also got the estop contactor installed, Installed some 24V DC terminal blocks, some 110V AC terminal bolck stations, teh Estop in a testing spot and connected up teh limit switches.
I might be jogging tomorrow afternoon!

So, How did the jogging go for you? This is where my troubles started.

Re: Cnc Mill Build
My jogging works great. Machine seems to be working great.
video of both machines running (router and mill - mill starts at 48seconds)

Re: Cnc Mill Build
That looks great Mike. Glad it worked out for you.
Your feed rate for that face mill is way too slow. Bump it up to 50 ipm or more.
Nice shop. What product do you manufacture there?
