Servo Auto Tuning

Post by please no smoke »

Last time I was working on servo tuning Scott mentioned that I was close enough and that I could just have the system auto tune. I am running Ajax with third party servo drives. I don't see in my manual that this is even an option. How do you do this?

F1/Setup, F3/Config, "137", F4/PID, F5/Tune.

Make sure all axes are near the centers of travel, with at least 2" clear in all directions.

Autotune does not tune your PID feedback terms for control stability. It does determine rapid rates and acceleration time based on motor response, and it sets the feedforward terms (Kg, Kv1 and Ka).

Thanks for the info. I will give it a try. What is "137"?

137 is the password that it will ask you for when you select config when in CNC11

So..I guess I should have mentioned that I'm running Mach not cnc10. That's probably why it does not work.

You can use the Autotune values derived in CNC11 for Mach3

good afternoon.

i just got back to the conversion after many months off (had baby). I installed cnc11 only to do auto tune as i want to use mach3 and it says "demo expired" even though i just installed the program late last night. what do i need to do to get the program going long enough to auto tune. i have tried to no avail to tune motors manually.

Thank you
