New Build LMS 3990 Hi Torque Mini Mill

Post by cdiseker »

Hey folks! I'm new here and working on finalizing my Little Machine Shop 3990 CNC conversion build. I'm a gunsmith and I'll be using this to custom mill 1911, Glock and AR slides, frames, uppers and lowers. I've been having issues finalizing the setup and I need some help. Here is a link to the pics of the machine.

I'm trying to follow the instructions in the video "Fine DRO Adjustment & Measuring Overall Turns Ratio" and I cannot get my DRO to display. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Jog all three axes to an appropriate home location (e.g. near the top of Z, and near one end or the other of X and Y.

Then press Cycle Start to set home where it sits.

Then you will have numbers on the DRO.

Later you can make it home automatically to the switches.

Did that and now a window HOMEALL SWITCH TRIPPED comes on. I have limit switches in series but one is bad.

hello.

thanks for the photos.

can you identify the stepper drives make and model being used?

please post a fresh report.zip file so we can 'see' your cnc control configuration and give you the best advice.

i see the stepper driver power supply, where is the Acorn Logic power supply? (i hope the Acorn is not being powered by the stepper drive power supply. :o)

All I can see in the cabinet is Step driver: MD 542
Report attached.
It looks like the power supply is under neath the Acorn board.
I see MLIV LRS-350-24

Any ideas on how to get past the limit switch issue so I can "Fine DRO Adjustment & Measuring Overall Turns Ratio".
The limit switch thats bad is on the Y axis.
