Strange noise issue.

Post by kman1967 »

I have an AcornSix running my machine. I recently added chip/dust collection to the unit. It is supplied by a flexible hose going to a Shopvac.
I installed a relay in the panel to allow me to control from CNC12. When I initially tried to use it, it screwed up my PC and made the screen go black. I would have to reboot the pc to get control again. After trying several things with isolation and grounding, I decided to keep it completely separate from the CNC control. Yesterday I put the vacuum on it's own switch with a remote and plugged it into a different 120V socket. So it is now completely isolated from my control. As soon as I turned the vacuum on and went to manually move the machine my screen went black and locked me out.

Any ideas?

I would ground everything related to the dust collection unit with heavy wire going to a single point ground bar. Some dust collection units are impressive static electricity generators.

Please post a current report from your machine so we can look at the error log and other parameters.

are you using a ground lead(wire) in / through the vac hose? very important.

Shopvacs and their PVC hoses are some of the worst static generators out there. Look this over, it may help

Thanks all. Obviously I need to rethink some of the routing on my system.
