Quick Tip: Checking Network IP Address Settings

Post by martyscncgarage »

I created this quickie video to help trouble shoot Ethernet communication between. Acorn and the CNCPC. The Centroid cnc software upon installation will automatically configure the ethernet port if you followed the quick start guide on the Acorn web page,(http://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy ... guide.html)

If you are still having ethernet issues this video shows you how to determine if the CNCPC ethernet port is working and then, if it is communicating with the Acorn CNC Controller. You can validate that your CNC PC's network address of 10.168.41.1 is configured properly. As well as to use Windows PING to test it and test communications with Acorn's fixed IP address of 10.168.41.2

If you are having problems, post which IP address (CNC PC or ACORN) you could not Ping in your post.
As always, BE SURE to follow Centroid's Windows 10 Setup video. Remember this is a motion controlling PC, not a gaming PC or to play Angry Birds on! :D

Hello. I am converting my CNCROUTERPARTS 6x10 pro machine to Acorn, from mach3/smoothstepper. During a wizard session making a setting change, the wizard quit abruptly while writing the acorn and bricked board. I was able to reestablish the heartbeat by following your video instructions, with not much difficulty. However now we can no longer establish a network connection with the Acorn. Windows simple shows no cable connected. I troubleshot the network cable and adapter and can find no flaw there(new cable, 3 network adapters). The internet works on all these connections in seconds. I've pinged 10.168.41.1 as others suggested(seems optimistic with "cable unplugged"), no luck.

With no communication with Acorn board we are at an impasse.

I've noted this on http://wiki.seeedstudio.com/BeagleBone_Green/ very bottom of page.
"2. Sometimes the BBG's network port does not work and must be restarted to resume work. Occasionally this happens.

Please replace a stable power supply and try again. Usually mobile phone USB power adapter is more stable than that computer USB. Or you can remove the capacitor C162."

All of our specs, uploaded files etc are in thread viewtopic.php?f=60&t=1746 as we were trying to get slave homing to work. Previously we had the machine running, just no slave homing for squaring.

Follow the instructions explicitly to uninstall and reinstall the software perhaps:
http://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy ... loads.html

There is a video to manually check the PCs Ethernet port in address.

Make double darn sure all anti virus is turned OFF.

Never power down during a firmware upgrade. Wait for the software to time out and give you instructions.

I would make sure antivirus software is off, and reinstall the software.

The LAN port was broken on BBG, replaced it with a new BBG, fixed.

I did not power down or close the wizard, it simply crashed.

Virus was not on.

I posted a more complete description over on the homing thread. Thermwood C53 5x10 Retrofit
