On the page where the Acorn, Allin, and OAK controllers are compared there is a mention that USB MPG Compatible is TBA - Has anyone heard any updates on this very handy option?

Right now, the only one Bill (Aka: Beevo) VanOrden and I have tested is the X-keys XK-24 keypad. It does make it a little more convenient to get closer to the machine to setup your part, its kind of a remote version of some of the keys on Virtual Control Panel. (Note, you have to load a macro and make your key cap icons) I believe Centroid is working on another. We're still in Acorn's infancy, I'm sure we'll see them in the not to distant future.

I'm interested in this as well. I saw a YouTube video by the guy who got me to buy the Acorn and I could have sworn he said you could use an Xbox controller. All that was necessary was an inexpensive add-on to the software...something along those lines. I'm using an Xbox controller with Mach and I like the joystick type controls. The Mach plug-in doesn't allow the configuration I'd like but it still works well enough and is dirt cheap.

Edit: I found it, I think. Looks nice! Is it a wireless pendant or wired?

Xbox controller

ScotY,
Hello.
You can use a Xbox controller as well. Rick posted a video on YouTube. I've shared it below.
Basically any USB device that has keyboard emulation capabilities can be used with the Centroid CNC12 (Acorn) software.
Rick says "The Centroid Acorn CNC system can be controlled by a standard X Box Controller ($15 at Wal-Mart including shipping) by purchasing a driver (https://www.rewasd.com/) for $6.00."
and here is a link to Ricks DIY instructions on how to setup the Xbox controller to work with Acorn CNC12. http://rick.sparber.org/XBCA.pdf

The PHB04B in the photo is the one that we are building a driver for and it is a wireless pendant.
(There is a wired version of it as well and we may create a driver for it.)
