You can build your own computer provided it meets the Minimum System Requirements:
http://www.centroidcnc.com/cnc_pc_perfo ... ments.html
I have built a Celeron 2.9ghz PC and it now runs my All in One DC on my knee mill. https://youtu.be/rAOKsgCGk6w
4gb memory
120 GB Solid State Drive (preferred!)
Ethernet port (required)
WiFi with Internet Connectivity as needed (for remote support assistance capabilities)
Touchscreen monitor (Software works with just a keyboard or mouse clicks on Virtual Control Panel but to take full advantage, highly desirable to have a touchscreen monitor!)
There are mini PC's that work well too, Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) work very well. I have scrounged Ebay and purchased the Lenovo M92P TINY PC's used. They are 2.9GHZ Intel I5 processor based, with 2.5" hard drives and standard laptop memory. Some are optioned with a built in WiFi radio, some don't have it but you can use USB WiFi sticks if needed.
YOU HAVE TO BE RUNNING WINDOWS 10 AND Follow the Windows 10 setup video posted by Liviu, Centroid support:
http://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy ... guide.html
Most 2.9Ghz CPU's and above seem to meet the CPU Benchmark.
I'm not endorsing the Lenovo M92P Tiny, I'm suggesting it as an option It works for me and several other Beta testers, and you can usually find them on ebay for under $200. You can also find their mounting brackets on ebay so you could mount it to the back of the monitor.
If you have a line on some other PC's that meet the Minimum requirements that have worked for you or you are wondeirng if they will work, post them here to this thread. At the end of the day, its up to you to decide....(nice CYA huh? )

Re: PC's to use
Hi Marty, is there any advantage to getting Win10 "Pro" instead of Home for Acorn? I'm searching for a W10 refurb unit & there seems to be a substantial price difference. I am dedicating it to Acorn & plan no usage other than running Acorn software & couldn't less about the Windows stuff.
Thanks,
Milton

Re: PC's to use
The CNC12 software will run on Home or Pro. There may be reasons (such as your work environment requiring certain security features found in Pro) to go with the Pro version, but for CNC12 the Home also works just as well if you don't need any extra features found in Pro. We ship out any PC options with Win10 Home out of Centroid.

Re: PC's to use
It's an old thread, but I thought I'd add to it with another recommendation. I just purchased a refurbished Lenovo M93z All-in_One 23" 10-touch touchscreen PC off of eBay. It came with 8G ram, a 128G Samsung 830 SSD, and a i5-4570S processor (single thread benchmark = 2009). Looks brand new; $249 with free shipping. The stand is removable leaving a VESA mount to attach it to and articulated arm. It is capacitive touch so I'll have to do some further testing to see if it causes "multi touch" problems with Acorn.
So far, extremely happy. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... 7768850012
