Outputs for an Acorn controlled slant bed lathe.

Post by Exhibitology »

Greetings,

I'm working on putting all my controls for my DynaMyte 3300 slant bed lathe into the VCP on a touchscreen monitor. The machine worked well previously with hardwired switches and a VEXTA stepper controller for the tool turret.

I first tackled the tool turret. I wanted buttons for each tool position. This all works. It parks, releases the turret, rotates to its position, and locks. I still need to get the system to post the current tool to the screen but that isn't going to keep me from using the lathe. The tailstock and collet clamp are.

These two simple outputs have me stumped. They are outputs 7 and 8 respectively. Each works in the PLC diagnostics APP. Yet they don't work on the VCP or with MDI. I've tried it using the M94M95 commands and I've tried it using M67 M87 and M87 and M88 commands. It is likely some simple thing that I've overlooked.

I'm running CNC12 v5.06. Attached are photos of the machine, the VCP, and a report.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best Regards

Richard Rew

That is very slick. How long has that been a feature. I can't tell you how many photos of the Wizard pages I've taken. Acorn just gets better and better.

Exhibitology,

I noticed after restoring your report when i press tail stock in/out that Output 7 will turn on. When i press chuck Out or In, Output 8 appears to turn on. But do not see a away to turn them off.

What is your intent? I suggest adding macros to turn off the outputs via M95 /111 and M95 /112.

Normally the TailStockInOut output and Chuckin/ChuckOut outputs are used for these vcp buttons. However the vcp buttons appear heavily modified and call macros in this case.

Thanks for your interest Chris.

Outputs 7 and 8 are wired using both their normally closed and open terminals. Normally closed commands the solenoid controlling the pnuematic cylinder to stay open. When the relay is triggered, the "stay open" side of the solenoid is deactivated and the close side is actuated.

I first set it up using the TailStockInOut output and the Chuckin/Chuckout outputs with no success.

As I mentioned, the outputs work as expected using the PLC Diagnostics APP.

I just can't get either the VCP or MDI to do the same thing.

hello. i would i rename your cnct directory and then do a fresh install and retest just the TailStockInOut output and the Chuckin/Chuckout with the stock logic to establish that functionality.
