4 linear scales on router with Acorn6 ?

Post by suntravel »

While constructing a precision router with software paired Y, I have a question if it is possible to use scales on both y axis for closed loop?

I believe there is a planned add on board for the acorn 6 that will allow 3 more scales for a total of 6.

I know the Encoder Expansion is in the shop, a total of 9 with it.

But my question was will a scale work with a soft paired Y axis and will it work with auto square...

We do have an encoder expansion board for ACORN6 that adds 6 encoder ports. It works well with scales and all.

I do not know if we have support for multiple scales on software paired axes. I'll see if I can find someone that does know.

We do not currently support using multiple scales for paired axes and I am unaware of any plans to implement that. I did a little testing with ACORN6/ENCEXP12 and a single scale on a software paired Y a while back and it should work well enough.

SO what is the point of all the encoder inputs if you aren't planning on using them to their full potential??? Makes no sense.

Thanks, not what I was hoping for, but it saves me the cost for one scale and the expansion board

But to make sure, screw compensation will work on the paired axis?

Multiple screws on the same axis can not be independently compensated.

ok, then I have to select two screws with as little pitch deviation as possible, or use the new volumetric compensation to get the toolpath in Y exactly square to X...
