Bottom of Virtual Control Panel Missing

Post by RGSparber »

When I upgraded to the newest version of CNC12, the bottom part of the VCP was left blank.

For those looking closely at my report, you will see a lot of strange movements. I am installing new ball screws on my mill.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Looking at your report the screen resolution is set to 1600x900 and it should be set to 1920x1080. Second, did you create the desktop shortcut or did the system? There's a switch you need in the shortcut to adjust for the taskbar.

You most likely copied over your vcp skin file from your old version, as none of the new entries needed for the lower part of the vcp are in your file. Start with the default acorn_mill_vcp_skin.vcp file and add/edit your changes to that.

Shawn,

I'll change the screen resolution. The shortcut was created by the system. Can you point me to docs that explain the switch I need in the shortcut?

Thanks,

Rick

Do I use Notepad++ to edit acorn_mill_vcp_skin.vcp? Where do I get the new lines? Is there a complete acorn_mill_vcp_skin.vcp that I can use instead?

Thanks,

The default install uses "acorn_mill_vcp_skin.vcp", found in C:\cncm\resources\vcp\skins. Yes, you can use Notepad++ to edit it. If you want the diagonal movement buttons, use the "acorn_router_vcp_diagonal_skin.vcp" skin. Since it looks like you overwrote the new ones, you could rename your new install to something like cncm-5.06-configed, and install it again to get the default skin files to copy over to your configed install. Then just delete the new install and rename the configed one back to cncm. You should then have all the needed entries. If you do edit the skin file, be sure to set "custom skin" in the wizard.

The switch is --adjustfortaskbar and is here in the forum somewhere. I think you could find it with a quick search.

Did you monkey around with your vcp skin files or try to "restore report" from a different version of CNC12? Do you have the latest .NET framework updates from Microsoft?

I did do a restore report from an older version of CNC12. I needed to do this to preserve my screw comp data, revs/inch, and backlash.

I likely do not have the latest .NET framework but will soon.

Thanks,

1600 x 900 is the best the monitor will do.
