Spindle OK _ Input

Post by Rolquin »

I hope this email finds you all well.

I would like to set up an Acorn Input for Spindle Fault.

I'm using a Minarik Drive MGC 403 and a 90 VDC Motor.

This Driver has an auxiliary output that switches ON and OFF, I'm using it to control a Relay.
This particular output switches On when the drive is at Run condition and switches Off when is in no Run condition.

The Acorn Input can be configured NO or NC , and will see a Drive Fault condition when used.

Is there any way that the Acorn Input can be configure to wait for a Run or no Run condition before it see a Fault ?

Would you please help me to set this input ?

I'm not sure if the post is clear as is difficult for me to describe the matter.

Thanks in advance.

There is a SpindleOK input designation for inputs in the wizard. Have you tried that?

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your soon answer.

Spindle Ok is the input I'm using on the Acorn, but this work NO or NC with the COM , I'm sending the COM to a NO contact on a Relay.

The issue is that the output in the driver I'm using Close a contact when is in the RUN condition and open the contact when is at no RUN.

Most vfd's have a "fault" relay made for that exact purpose. Are you saying yours does not or does not have one that can be configured as "fault"?

Hi Gary , thanks for your answers.

Its not a VFD is a DC motor speed controller from Minarik Drives , the MGC 403. There is an auxiliary output that can be use as an alarm. This alarm only triggers when there is a not Run condition , if the amperage is exceeded or the motor is asking for torque. If the main fuse is blown it will not output any alarm.
I'm using this output for Spindle Fault in the Acorn and an additional Relay to cut the COM if the Fuse is blown or a Breaker is tripped.

This might not be the optimal option , but it works for me.

Thanks.
