Uwe, Are you getting repeatability when you install the probe each time or do you have to check run out each time?

since I am using a quality chuck and clamp the probe allways in the same orientation of the chuck, it repeats within 0.03mm diameter deviation of the turned parts.
For better precision you have to go with 2 finishing passes and set tool wear since deflection of the machine depends also on the cutting force.

Uwe, Did you wire your tool touch for the lathe as a tool touch or as a probe? Do you mind referring me to the page in the probe set up guide that you used for your wiring?

The Probe guide is for mechanical probes, but this here is a NPN probe. Wire like an NPN sensor (but to ProbeTripped input, set this input to NO):
https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppo ... 955.r4.pdf
Connect 4th pole of the plug to ProbeDetect input. Set this input to NO
Make a jumper on the plug from the probe to the 4th Pole and COM.
There is a Picture in the photo album.

This way, if you plug in the Probe, ProbeDetect is set and Probe protection is on.

run out of the probe must be mechanical adjusted.
Use a lever type indicator like this:

Hey, Where did you get these from? or what are these style din rail blocks called?
Thanks,
Brent

Hello Uwe.
Can you tell me what transmission ratio you use for your Z axis and the diameter and pitch of the ball screw?
I am also thinking of switching to a servo on the Z axis and I would like to do exactly the same assembly as you.
It seems to be really effective. Cheer

5mm pitch and 2:1 reduction. This can go 15m/min rapids, but I limited to 10 m/min because this ist about the critical rpm of the ball screw.
