Schematic templates available?

Post by clough42 »

I am getting ready to document my Acorn/Ether1616/Avid/Clearpath build on my YouTube channel, and people are already asking me for schematics. Is there a standard template available that I can use to draw them up? I see that all of the schematics on the web site use common components, but I didn't see a template available anywhere.

The schematics are available in both PDF and CAD format. When you download the schematics you get both formats. I use the CAD drawings and edit them to the machine that I'm retrofitting. Just pick the one that is closest to your system and edit. With the CAD drawings you can create CAD blocks for each component and create any custom schematic.

The multiple SDSK schematics should be current on the website. The PDF wiring diagrams were in a zipped file, now they are individual PDFs for download. Link to documents at the bottom of the Centroid CNC Website: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... nuals.html

Here is a discussion on the latest resistor values: https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic. ... 292#p47292

Are you planning on using the CNC4PC board or wiring direct to the Acorn and Ehter1616? I personally cannot recommend the CNC4PC board based on my past experience with it, some have had success and there is a newer version released.

I ended up re-configuring and wiring my Avid 3 axis 4 motor to the Acorn and Ether1616 using the latest wiring diagram to use auto-squaring and individual motor fault indicators.

There are .DWG drawings in the hookup schematics zip that is found under "hookup schematics" on the main acorn page (not forum)

Fusion is terrible at opening autocad .dwg's

I opened the clearpath schematics in solidworks and saved them as a .dxf for you. Fusion can open that, but is spotty with text because it is on a different layer

Give these a try. :)

Forgot to mention that ExpressSCH is my preferred way to do schematics for free. I have most of the components drawn up as "components" objects for expressSCH. If you go that route, let me know and I can send over those for you. I dont have them on this pc

It may be better to have the drawings in DXF format...not sure if that would allow mods. I have Creo and will trying to see if it will open them...which I consider unlikely.

I have and use AutoCAD 2016. Opens the DWG files just fine and I can save as a DXF if needed.

Be aware that autocad saves layers in the dxf. like if the drawing is 5 layers, the dxf will have 5 layers.
If you end up resaving, see if there is a way to save everything as one layer. :)

This is a problem with other cad software which can sometimes only grab one layer, so you will only get some of the lines brought in. Especially with fusion where it wont let you pick which layer to bring in like solidworks does.
