Sherline encoder

Post by PhillyArt »

Hello All,
Will an Acorn work with the Sherline Chucker's Optical Encoder?

Manufacturer/part number for the encoder and we can give you some help. If it's an RS422 differential quadrature encoder of at least 1000 lines, it should work fine.
Cheers,

Tom

As Tom mentioned, it must be a standard line driver differential encoder to be compatible with Acorn.
They can be fairly inexpensive. Need information on your encoder, make/model number/cut sheet. PIcture of it on your machine would be helpful and how it is interfaced with the lathe spindle.

Doesn't Franco have a Sherline chucker/Acorn lathe. He could tell you what he did.
