Need a small file to send to Mozaik so they can give me a post processor

Post by Jrlee »

I am finally getting ready to test my Acorn powered mill so I requested a post processor from Mozaik. They replied with this response "We’re going to need to see sample GCode files that run on that machine." I was kinda shocked with that response buuut.
Can someone Please supply me with a small file that they have run on their Acorn? It would be much, much appreciated.

Hello. When you install CNC12 there are a wide variety of sample G code files included with the installation these all have been tested. Look in the C:\cncm\ncfiles folder. start with those. and for Lathe the programs are in.... c:\cnct\ncfiles
and send them the link to the CNC12 operator manuals (mill and lathe) they both have great sections with examples on how each G and M code works.

In my observation, if you just send a CAD/CAM vendor a small sample of G codes that run on the control, they will miss things that were not included in the sample; and slavishly include things that are unimportant or inapplicable (e.g. putting an "ICN_PATH = " comment in G codes that were not posted from Intercon).

Jr,

Are you new to Mozaik? How do you like it? I've looked at it for a while and it looks really nice.

Did you ever get a successful Post from Mozaik?
I am switching to this software.
Having trouble making them understand my home position is in the top right corner of the machine.

Having trouble making them understand my home position is in the top right corner of the machine.
Where your home position is should not make any difference to the post processor. If you want the posted G code programs to move X and Y to a "home" position after the job is done -- and perhaps for manual tool changes -- it should be done with G28 or another of the return points.

If by "home" you meant your part zero location, it is still a little surprising that their post processor would care. In most CAM software, you interactively set the location of part zero relative to the part, or the part relative to part zero, as you are getting ready to post the job.
