MPG not working. < fixed >

Post by mc2 »

I just received the wireless MPG. I am familiar with these as I have one on a Mach 3 machine and it works great.

I followed the direction shipped with the unit. When I powered up I can see that I have a wifi connection and batteries are good. That is all. I noticed on the youtube videos that there is more information on the screen including "Centroid". This would lead me to believe that these are programmed specifically for Centroid. Since I don't even have that I am guessing that this unit may not be programmed?

FWI I am retrofitting a Taig gang tool lathe with clearpath motors using the Acorn controller. I do have the pro license needed to make the MPG work and I have already upgraded the Centroid software to Ver. 14.

Also as a side note: I am using a clearpath AC motor for my spindle motor. This is a great motor however the Centroid software is not setup to use this motor very easily. I am working around all of that and may need to learn the PLC language to fix my enable signal issues.

Thanks Gary. That did the trick. That should be added into the instructions.

I will tell you that when I make a hardware change, PLC mod, I power everything down and back up. Acorn and the CNC PC. Sure fire way to make sure the software is configured and ready to go.

You would think that with what I do for a living I would have rebooted. Oh well lesson learned.

Hi All Same problem with MPG, I upgraded to new version I have the pro version and bought the MPG from Centroid. The computer see the MPG Centroid give error message that I need to upgrade to Pro, or buy a MPG. Also when I power down after saving changes to Wizzard the control reverts back to Test bench and not to the DMM servos I have it set for. Any ideas Re install?

When you upgrade to 4.14 you have to reinstall your Pro license

Thanks for the heads up on the reboot, I have one on the way and can't wait to try it out!

Hopefully I don't have the issue I read in a different post that it needs to have some distance from the antenna (which to me doesn't make a lot of sense, since it's not a rc car from the 80s). My cncpc is attached to my machine so the pendant won't ever be further than a few feet from the antenna. I guess I'll know next week. UPS and FedEx need to take note from USPS funny how much things have changed in the last 15 years.

Dan,

I asked Centroid to ship my last order USPS so it wouldn’t take 5-7 days to traverse the country. I feel you.
