Wiring which one

Post by lilb93 »

been trying for a day to get the servos to move , but no luck . Looking today at the wiring i see there are three different diagrams all for the same drive ?????
I used the one in photo two. All three are different pin wiring to the DYN4.

Well I changed it to the photo number 3 wiring. Still the same, servo are locked like the waiting for a command and pressing X, Y or z get me DRO movement but not the servos. Ran there flange program and it ran thru start to finish, but no servo movement. . Maybe it is a bad Acorn board I do have a spare new one, will change it out this evening.

well changed out the one acorn board for the other and still the same thing. So went back into DMM software and test the servos again taking them out of pulse and direction to rs232 NO movement..

I'm sorry, over the weekend I was very busy and tried to answer you from my cell phone...

First, are you saying now you get no movement from the DMM software?

Did you watch this video START TO FINISH?
https://youtu.be/kS5i9Le0fmQ

There is a wiring diagram in the video. MANY people have used DYN4 with no issues. Double check your wiring against the one used in the video.
I strongly suggest ALL users buying DMM drives buy their DB25 cables, makes wiring to Acorn easier and no connector wiring.

Did you order the DB25 Acorn cables from DMM or are you trying to make your own?

Marty I made the connections with a DB25 board with the screws on the back side (photo enclosed) I can run the servos with the DMM software and they work fine. When I plug the DB25 back in and go to test with there software the servos do not work. Unplug the DB25 and they work fine. take all wires off except pulse and direction and they work in the DMM software. Change there software to pulse and direction and save it and start the wizard and put the alarm in NO instead of NC. Start CNC12 and the DRO moves but no servo will turn.

Your DB 25 to DYN4 picture is too blurry for me to make out.

Did you use the DMM software and INVERT the Enable pin?
You need their latest version of software.

To test this, DISCONNECT all 3 ENABLE PINS FROM ACORN to the DYN4 Drive and try and jog the motors.

When CNC12 is in the ready state, (no alarms or errors) the motor rotors should be FREE. It is only until you go into MDI or jog the motor that the rotors lock and remain locked. If you press estop, rotors should UNLOCK.

Report back please

I am going through your DB25 connections now for you....

When you got your Acorn, did you not get a dual voltage output power supply? Has both +24VDC and +5VDC?

If you are using two separate power supplies, make sure you connect the -5VDC and the -24VDC together at the power supplies.
