Acorn PRO and CSR (Coordinate System Rotation)

Post by realloser »

Hi,

I just wanted to take advantage of the CSR available in Acorn Pro.
Just for fun, I have selected two arbitrary points on my table and used Accept as described. I can see that the CSR of -26° is set.

I would not expect that entering G0 x100 y0, the spindle would jog in an angle of 26°. I also run an arbitrary program where I would expect the same behavior.
But the machin still moves in the same fashion as before. Straight on X and Y.

Did I missunderstood something or do I have to set any other settings to apply the rotation?

Thanks for the Help.

Hello,

Looking at your report it is showing -40.102314 in WCS G54 #1.

1) In the upper left corner by the DRO X is it showing the Angle symbol?

2) Are you in G54 #1 WCS?

When you issue a G0, G1, G2, or G3 the DRO will display the coordinates as if the machine had zero CSR but the Dist to Go display will show the actual distant the X and Y need to go to get to the correct position. Your example of G0 X100 Y0 and I am assuming you are starting X0 Y0 the DRO will only display X moving while the Dist to GO display will show X and Y moving. In the Dist to GO display Y value will be base on the CSR angle that Y has to move for the CRS angle. You should see the Y axis motor moving the table though the Main DRO for Y does not show Y moving.

If you use the jog buttons or MPG with a CSR angle CSR is not not taken into account and only the axis that you are moving with the Jog button or the MPG will move.

You have parameter 150 set to a 2. This value will display CSR in Graph (F8). If you have an angle in for CSR the graph will display showing the part at that angle. If parameter 150 is set to a zero the display will show as if CSR angle is zero whether there is any angle in the CSR.

Thanks for looking into it and for the replay.
From what I can remember, I was in G54 I coudl have seen the angel in the wcs setup but I think not in the main view.
I have run some gcode to test and also used MID to enter some gcode where X always moved horizontal and never in the specified angle.
Looking at your report it is showing -40.102314 in WCS G54 #1.
I have reset my CSR for G54 since it is not working, and created a new example for the report (41°).

I have to read and validate again what you have written (a lot of information).

But lets make it simple, what steps do I have to do so I can input GCode in the MDI and it moves in the specified CSR. Or is this not possible (from what I have experianced and maybe from what you have written)? OK I read it the 3rd time and I thin you say, it should move according to the specified CSR (41° in the latest example and expect me to change that again).

And as I mention, I have run a Programm but this didn't run in the specified CSR but normal hor/ver, which is more confusing to me.

With the CRS set and the angle symbol displayed by X in the main screen DRO:
In MDI type G0 X0 Y0, then cycle start. This will make it easier to see what is happening. This will be a rapid move
Then type G1 X100 Y0 F250 (for metric)
You will see the main DRO with X moving and Y not. In the "Dist to Go" display you will see X and Y counting down for the distant to go. Running a program you will see the same thing happening

Hi Dana,
thanks for the info!

I had again a look to the video and I can answer this question:
1) In the upper left corner by the DRO X is it showing the Angle symbol?
IMG_4927.JPG
NO
I assume this is the main reason it is not working for me. What do I have to do to enable that in the DRO?
I followed the step mention in that screen shot and as you can see the CRS is set but not applied as one can see in the DRO. I assume I'm missing a step?

I did some screenshots and added the latest report (I had to debrick my ACORN after updating it )

Thanks for your help.
