Dust Collection On - how to use

Post by martyscncgarage »

I'm trying to use the Dust Collection output on the Phoenix 4x4 router.
I assume it should turn on with the spindle and stay on for a few seconds after spindle M5 is called.

Right now it's not turning on at all. I assume there maybe a parameter to set a delay time?

Marty...
How are you calling up the DC-On macro?

Call my cell if you want I am in the shop

Didn't know it had to be a macro to turn on the output for the DC....

I was under the impression that if it isn't in the Acorn Wizard, you had to use a macro.

I found M34 and M35 and those seem to be tied to the dust collection macro (if I'm remembering the m codes correctly)
I'll try them tomorrow.
You can assign an output to dust collection in the wizard. I'm assuming that allows you to call the appropriate M code which will turn on the output associated with Dust collection in the Wizard.

Marty...
Some of tis seems to be the "included magic" with the control software. Have you tried designating the DC output as "Flood" in the wizard and then use M4, M7? You might then be able to take advantage of the Auto/Man feature.
On previous machines I usually setup DC control 2 ways. On an ATC machine, DC on would be a M94/95 line in the post, as it would stay on the duration of a file. On a non-ATC I would put the M94/95 in the M3, M5 so that the DC was off during manual tool changes.

Gary, I appreciate the idea of flood on/off. But since Centroid designed Dust Collection into the PLC, I'd like to see what will make it work.

I have half of a double pole relay turning on and off the spindle motor. I could just as easily use the other half to turn on/off the dust collector whenever the spindle is called to turn on and off too.

Thanks for the suggestions.

It makes sense to do it that way as well. I would like to see how it was intended to work.

Marty...
I will look into this a bit more tomorrow if the Centroid guys don't chime in with a definitive answer, but it was my guess that the DC output parameter and macros were in there just ahead of the next software release. But I am often wrong. I do know that if the coolant options and the auto/man controls work as well as my testing, then I will like them.

Already tested.
It was a no-brainer
M35 turns dust collection on
M36 turns dust collection off

Could probably putu in a G4 in the M36 to put in a few second delay....

Any output in the Wizard programmed DUST COLLECTION will be controlled.
