Acorn maximum pulse rate?

Acorn spec sheet states that the maximum pulse rate is 400 kHz. I'm curious what this number actually means. Is it 400,000 pulses per second per output pin, 400,000 pulses per second per motor channel, 400,000 pulses per second for all the motor channels together, 400,000 pulses per second shared between all outputs, or something else?

400,000 pulses per second per motor. The Acorn can actually be programmed to output pulses much faster it's highly doubtful that your wiring or drive can handle that without losing steps. That's really an area for a quadrature, differential pulse train.
