Rotary Axis Questions

Post by Gary Campbell »

I'm just getting into installing my 4th (B) axis onto my Acorn Project. I have a couple questions:

When I setup the axis in the Wizard I set the - & + limits at -1,000,000 & 1,000,000 degrees. Once I've booted CNC12 the maximum that the "JOG" setup screen will accept is -9,999 and 9,999 respectively. Did I muff another setting? Can these limits be expanded?

Once motor was calibrated and test run for revs and speed, I wound it a few revs in one direction, opened the MDI and typed in "B0" The attached message appeared. See attached

Any Ideas?

EDIT: I figured out the error message, I am running the free version

You have the Digitizing Bundle? Did it install OK?

If you are running on the free version, that would explain the error I believe.

For the B axis (Rotary) you do not put any travel limits in. Leave them at 0.0000. You can wind up for ever in either directions that way. The only time I have put travel limits in for a rotary table is because I had fixture mounted that was larger enough that I could not rotate all the way around.

Is there a way to "mod" the rotary positions? IOW, set the current MCS by removing the revs, keeping the degrees. Sorry about the confusing question.

I've done this in the past by using a variable and some math, also have seen controls that actually have a dedicated L/M code for this purpose

In the configuration parameter 94 if it is set to 2 then it will show total degrees without the R(wrap). Is this what you are looking for? For the R(wrap) set to 1.
